Why Black Cabs Should Be Your Go-To in a Crisis

Recently, I found myself in a situation where punctuality was utmost, as I was heading to an important job interview. Despite my best efforts to leave home early, unforeseen delays on the central line posed a significant challenge. With more than a 15-minute delay, I realized that taking an Uber would still result in a late arrival due to heavy traffic. In a moment of panic, I decided to hail a black cab, trusting in their unrivaled knowledge of London’s intricate routes.

As I explained my predicament to the cab driver—a skilled and understanding lady—she assured me she’d find a way. Navigating through less-traveled back roads, she managed to get me to my destination on time. Her presence not only ensured my punctual arrival but also provided a welcome sense of calm during a stressful situation. The fare was £20, not including the generous tip I gave her as a token of gratitude.

The takeaway? In an emergency, a black cab can be a lifesaver.

Addressing Some Concerns

I understand that this post might spark some debate. While it might seem like poor planning on my part, this was my third round of interviews, and I had previously completed the journey without any issues. I was trying to avoid being excessively early this time, considering the current sweltering temperatures.

Yes, it’s true that taking a black cab can sometimes be less than ideal, and I’ve had such experiences. However, if you find yourself in a tight spot and communicate the urgency to the driver, they’re often more invested in helping you reach your destination promptly compared to drivers less familiar with London.

For those in pressing situations, a black cab might just be your best bet.
