Barbican & the City – Marcus Dobbs (2025)
Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, I shared a work-in-progress version of this drawing, and I’m excited to finally reveal the finished piece!
This map delves into the rich history of the Barbican, covering over 2,000 years of London’s past. It took me about three months to complete, using my iPad as a creative tool. This project is part of an ongoing series I began back in 2020.
I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone on Reddit who contributed suggestions and historical insights—you truly made a difference!
Wow, Marcus! This final outcome looks amazing! It’s incredible how you managed to capture 2,000 years of history in one drawing. The level of detail must be incredible! I love that you used feedback from the Reddit community to shape this final piece; it really shows how collaborative art can be. I’m excited to see how your ongoing series develops! What’s next on your list?
