Has anyone noticed that loads of people just push through the barriers on the underground now?

Has anyone else noticed the increasing number of people just pushing through the barriers on the Underground lately? It seems like more individuals are bypassing the need to tap in at all. I’ve even seen staff nearby at times, yet they hardly take any action. Is this yet another indication of how little attention is being paid to fare evasion?

When I use the accessible entrance, I occasionally notice people following in behind me after I tap. But there’s always at least one person who walks straight in without any attempt to pay.

I can’t help but wonder if TfL has given up on enforcing this or if they’ve reduced staff, because it’s becoming rare to see anyone being stopped. It frustrates me to think that I’m still paying for my fare while others are taking advantage of the situation.

  1. I’ve definitely seen this trend too, and it’s frustrating! It seems like there’s a growing culture of just ignoring the rules, and it’s disappointing when it feels like people are taking advantage of the system. I think it could be a combination of more people feeling entitled to bypass the barriers and maybe a lack of enforcement from TfL. If the staff are around but not taking action, it gives the impression that they’re not prioritizing this issue anymore.

It’s really disheartening for those of us who pay for our travel. Hopefully, TfL will take notice and do something about it, because it shouldn’t be up to the honest commuters to shoulder the burden while others cut corners.
