Title: Navigating Public Transport: When Harassment Strikes

Riding public transportation should be a mundane part of daily life, a time to sit back and reflect or perhaps finish that chapter in your book. However, for many, it can quickly turn into a distressing experience due to unwanted attention.

Recently, while commuting, I found myself in an uncomfortable situation. Despite the availability of numerous vacant seats, a man chose to sit next to me. His unwelcome proximity felt invasive, as if my personal space was no longer my own. His face hovered merely an inch from mine, leaving me feeling vulnerable and uneasy.

Faced with this discomfort, I decided to move to the front of the bus, seeking some solace near the driver. This isn’t an isolated incident; such experiences seem to be a recurring theme. It often leaves me longing for female-only public transportation where such incidents might be less frequent.

The everyday journey to work should not include navigating unwanted encounters. It’s a sobering reminder that even in the supposed safety of public spaces, vigilance is required. Sometimes, all one desires is a peaceful ride to work, free from harassment.
