Good, lively bars for night life?

Can anyone recommend some vibrant bars for a night out in London? I’m not really into nightlife these days, but I used to frequent places like Ministry and the Piccadilly Institute—there were definitely others I can’t quite recall.

A friend from the US is visiting, and she’s looking for a lively bar experience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I’m also open to karaoke bars or live music venues!
